The development of these robots raises concerns about the future of human employment.

Overlooked Headlines: Speed Limiters in Cars and Fake Grocery Store Produce
Tuesday Jul 09, 2024
Tuesday Jul 09, 2024
Hello, this is Jeff Bass, the host of Overlooked Headlines. In this episode, we delved into three critical headlines that have been overlooked in mainstream media but are essential for our understanding and well-being.
First, we discussed the implementation of speed limiters in cars in Britain. The new EU regulation mandates the installation of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) systems in all new vehicles to reduce traffic collisions and injuries. While this technology aims to enhance road safety, concerns have been raised about potential issues such as driver reliance on ISA and accuracy in areas with poor GPS signals.
Next, we highlighted a disturbing incident where a student's diploma was temporarily withheld for mentioning Jesus Christ in his graduation speech. Despite eventually receiving his diploma, the student faced resistance from school officials who defended the ban on free speech and biblical references in public education.
Our top headline focused on the alarming trend of grocery store produce becoming rubberized and potentially fake. Videos circulating on social media showed fruit and vegetables with abnormal textures, leading to speculation that a protective agent called APEL could be responsible for this phenomenon. The company behind APEL defended the safety and quality of their products, but concerns remain about the impact on consumer health.
In our segment "His Lines," we explored the importance of discernment in navigating the complexities of the world. Drawing from biblical verses, we emphasized the need for discernment to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood. Discernment, as highlighted in the scriptures, is essential for spiritual growth and protection from deception.

This innovative fintech solution from PayEye aims to revolutionize the way we make payments, offering convenience and security in a fast and easy manner. However, some skeptics have raised concerns about the potential implications of biometric payment authentication.
Next, we explored YouTube's collaboration with record labels to use artists' music to train AI programs. As YouTube negotiates licensing deals with major record companies, questions arise about the impact of AI tools on the music scene and the rights of artists.

College Students Diagnosed with PTSD Due to COVID Lockdowns
Tuesday Jun 11, 2024
Tuesday Jun 11, 2024
Hello, this is Jeff Bass, the host of Overlooked Headlines. In this episode, we delved into some critical headlines that have been overlooked in the news cycle.
We started by discussing Congress quietly moving to automatically register men for selective service in the event of a draft. This amendment aims to streamline the registration process for eligible men and ensure fairness in case a military draft is declared. The amendment, sponsored by Representatives Christy Houlihan and Don Bacon, is seen as a money-saving and common-sense reform. The Selective Service System costs roughly $30 million a year, and this automation proposal is a step towards modernizing the system. The bill still needs to pass through the full house and Senate before becoming law.
Next, we highlighted the alarming trend of fire hydrants being stolen in Los Angeles. The Golden State Water Company has reported a significant increase in thefts, with over 300 hydrants stolen since the beginning of 2023, amounting to a loss of $1.2 million. The company has taken measures to prevent further thefts, including installing locked shields on hydrants. The thefts pose a significant public safety risk, and the company is urging the thieves to stop tampering with fire hydrants, as it is a federal crime.
Lastly, we discussed the growing number of college students being diagnosed with PTSD due to COVID lockdowns. The rate of college students diagnosed with PTSD doubled from 2017 to 2022, with the biggest jump occurring during the COVID-19 years. The study conducted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham highlighted the need for targeted trauma-informed prevention and intervention strategies to support affected students. The lockdowns and social distancing mandates during the pandemic have taken a toll on the mental health of college students, leading to an increase in PTSD cases.
In our segment "His Lines," we reflected on these headlines from a biblical perspective, citing verses from 2 Timothy and Matthew that speak to the challenges and trials faced in the last days. The message emphasized the importance of trusting in Jesus and remaining faithful in times of turmoil.
Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Overlooked Headlines. Stay informed, stay inspired, and remember to keep your faith in God as we navigate through the headlines of today. Be blessed.
